Stormy Sunday night thoughts....

Tonight the weather is really not great.  Thankfully, I am nice and dry inside the house, waiting out the storms.  I made it home from Mom's around suppertime just in time for the second downpour of the day.  Here's to hoping that the power stays on tonight and I don't sleep through a non-working alarm clock.  At any rate, here are my ramblings of the night.

Kitten Update:
A few weeks ago, I introduced everyone to my three new kittens: Alexander, Michael and Fluffy....well this past Friday I added another little ball of fur to my household: Oliver.  Oliver is about two months old, where the others are around four months old and he's nearly the size of Fluffy (she is pretty small but still...).  Fluffy is super excited to finally have someone her size to play with.  In fact, they are zooming around my kitchen right now playing with a paper grocery bag and ignoring the lightening storm going on outside.  Alex just woke up and is now sitting on my lap, Mike is under the stool I have my laptop propped up on, where he has been since it started booming about two hours ago.  Frightened kitten, just like his big brother Jai was.  :)  Both of them are ignoring the play in the kitchen.  Although if any of their toys end up in the kitchen, watch out!  I will post some pictures of Oliver later.  It also looks like Fluffy will be remaining at my house, which is okay with me.  Not that she wouldn't fit in with Mom's cat, but she just belongs here with her brothers.  Hopefully I can get everyone fixed while I am off in October, if we are able to wait that long.  For the most part, the kids all sleep the night, with the exception of Fluff and Oliver, who think it's time to get up around 5 am.  That's a no.  Alex and Mike sleep a lot longer, which suits me a lot better.  Maybe in a few weeks Oliver and Fluffy will do the same.  I do hope so!

Duck Dynasty:
I don't think I have blogged about my love of this show....it is just hilarious!  I even enjoy watching the reruns.  It just makes me laugh and smile, especially when I am having a craptastic day.  I can totally relate to the Robertson family, as they are very similar to the Munns.  Hunting, check.  Family suppers, check.  Quirky relatives, check.  Rednecks, well yeah, check.  :)  Small town, check.  I really loved the season premier last Wednesday, where the boys gave Phil and Kay a wedding for their anniversary. It was very touching and will live on my pvr for good while.

Other stuff:
This week is the last week I will have my summer student at work.  I am hoping that next week (when he's gone) is not as insane as last week was...so many problems and not enough hours in the day to fix them all.  Very frustrating.  I must say, this year I am really missing the packing up and heading back to school.  It's been eight years, but this year I am actually longing for the start of new classes and the escape from Town.  Oh well, before I know it, winter will be here and I will be stuck in my office working and wishing for the sun to return and shortly after that, I will be asking why winter has gone so fast while I am prepping for construction season.  Such is life I guess.

In a couple of weeks I will be back to leading Guides and Pathfinders.  Since Sarah has moved for work, its going to be an interesting year making sure all of the programming works.  My Pathfinders will be excellent, the girls already work well together as a team and are very self sufficient.  :) We are also planning a bog walk for the rest of the Units in our end of the Guiding Community.  Here's hoping we are able to pull off an interesting and fun day for the girls.  On the schedule, ecology of bogs, bog mummies and lots of fun.  I may even break out a Duck Commander mallard drake call... ;)

New Glamour Doll Eyes colours

Hey everyone:  a week or so ago, Vee left word on Facebook that the had some samples of the new colours that would be included with orders so that is what I have for you tonight.  Mom and I both ordered some of the new blushes (very lovely!) and received not only sample pots of four new shadow colours but also nail polish!  Mom received Candy Floss while I received Makin A Scene.  I have tried Vee's nail polish and I must say I am very impressed.  Not only is the coverage excellent with one coat but the colours are very vibrant, rich and shimmery!  I painted my nails with Makin A Scene on Sunday (one coat, no base, no sealer) and my polish is still chip free and going strong.

The blushes we ordered are Day Job and Polish My Halo.  Trust me, they are shimmery and beautiful, you NEED them in your collection!

The swatch for the blushes didn't turn out but wait until you see the new colours we received.  Between the two of us, we actually managed to score six of the new colours...(seriously I am in LOVE!).

L-R: Junkie, Pillow Fight, Busted

L-R: Hitch Hiker, Burlesque, Frat Boy

I really do LOVE all six of the new colours we received and cannot wait to see what else Vee has up her sleeve.  The new colours are to be released July 10 (from GDE on Facebook).

Brazen Cosmetics UltraPlush(tm) Liquid Lipsticks

As a Brazen Beauty, I was given the opportunity to review some of Brazen's newest product, UltraPlush(tm) Liquid Lipsticks.  These lipsticks offer opaque full coverage with a creamy soft texture and smell like a vanilla cupcake.  Packaged in a 11ml click pen, these lipsticks are listed at $13.99 (https://brazencosmetics.com).

The colours I received: Preppy, Swagger, Trophy Wife, Mirage, Panacea, Hot to Trot, Starlet and Sordid.

So far, I have only tested out Panacea but Swagger, Mirage and Preppy will likely make their way into my weekly make-up rotation.  I literally didn't have to touch up my colour all day, even after lunch!  The formula is super silky, very pigmented and smells wonderful!  Two thumbs up!!

All swatches over bare skin, photographed with indoor light.

L-R:  Starlet, Hot to Trot, Preppy and Trophy Wife.

L-R: Swagger, Mirage, Panacea and Sordid.

Points of note: all natural/organic, wide range of colours, contains vitamins and antioxidents, gluten/paraben/chemical/phthalate/cruelty-free.

This is what the click pens look like - kind of like a medium sized marker.  The colour is Mirage.

If you would like to give these wonderfully pigmented lipsticks a try, head on over to the Brazen website to check out all of the available colours (15 in all).  You can use the code BrazenTrishaLips to get 25% off any of the liquid lipsticks.  I'm thinking of picking up one in Aphrodite, Nerd Repellent and Catalyst, how about you?

Kittens....aka What have I done?

A week ago last Thursday, I decided it was time to start looking for another cat.  I miss Jaime terribly and thought that a kitten would help ease the pain and give me some of the companionship I was missing....  Well, anyone who knows me knows that left to my own devices when making decisions such as these, I tend to be a bit irrational.  So, I brought my Mother along with me to check out some kittens....mistake number 1.  Instead of coming home with a kitten we came back with three...yeah, three.  Two will remain at my new house with me, the other will eventually join the brood at my Mom's house.  Its been so long since Jaime was a kitten, I forgot how much energy, little sleep and how much trouble/fun having a kitten around could be.

Here are the new additions to my household:

Alexander (Alex)

Michael (Mikey)

Fluffy (she belongs to my Mom and is sooo little)

Here's to hoping that I can get them on a sleep schedule similar to mine!
